MENS MINISTRY

Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens Iron, and one man sharpens another.” Every man needs strong relationships with other Christian men to be sharpened in their faith. As men engage with other godly men it helps take off their rough edges and allows them to become more like Jesus, the greatest man who every walked this earth. In a world that is quickly becoming confused about what true masculinity is, it is important for guys to learn how mature into strong men – good husbands, fathers, employers, employees, servants in the church, and leaders wherever they go.

At Word of Life Church we are intentional about providing opportunities for men to regularly get together. Once a month we have a gathering called Guy’s Night for men thirteen years and older. There is good food, solid teaching, and a time of discussion to learn, debate, challenge, and grow. Guy’s Night lasts about an hour and a half and gives the men of our church a chance to wrestle with the issues that only men can relate to and understand. During the year the Men’s Ministry serves the widows of the church on scheduled work days. There is an annual three day Men’s Retreat that occurs each fall at a great location about forty-five minutes away called Camp Summit. There are also other fun activities that occur throughout the year like bowling nights, golf outings, fishing trips, and more.
