Who we are

Word of Life Church is a Spirit-led, Biblically based, diverse congregation serving Rock Island and the Quad Cities region. We are a large family made up of different ethnicities, age groups, economic statuses, neighborhoods, and backgrounds. We come from both sides of the river and above and below the hill. We recognize and appreciate our differences but we truly value the one thing we have in common: Jesus. Ultimately, We Are ONE. Here are a few other things that we value:

Hospitality – creating a friendly and welcoming environment that makes people feel wanted and safe (1 Peter 4:9, Romans 12:13, Titus 1:8).

Service – giving of ourselves for the building up of others inside and outside the church (1 Peter 4:10, Galatians 5:13-14, Matthew 20:28).
Relationships – walking through life with other believers and growing together (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 10:25, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

Outreach – taking the good news into the community through words and actions (Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, Matthew 25:35-40).

Generosity – being obedient stewards with God’s resources in an openhanded way (Acts 20:35, Probers 11:24-25, Matthew 6:21).

Devotion – building a relationship with God through personal reading, prayer, and worship (1 Peter 2:2, John 15:7, John 4:24).

Mentoring – the intentional process of helping people become more like Jesus (Proverbs 27:17, Proverbs 9:9, Proverbs 13:20).

Freedom – using our authority in Christ to break free from addictions, habits, and deep personal wounds (Romans 12:1-2, Galatians 5:1, 2 Corinthians 3:17).

Multiplication – equipping leaders to plant local, sovereign churches throughout our region (Titus 1:5, Acts 14:23, Act 20:28).
