The Freedom Ministry is an umbrella term we use for several wonderful ministries at Word of Life Church.
Freedom is one of our core values here. We believe Jesus died on the cross to save you from sin and death, but also to set you free in this life from anything that would hold you back from living the life God intends for you to have.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Here are some of the ways we strive to see people set free:
Freedom Fridays are for anyone struggling with an addiction, bad habit, attitude, illness, or anything that has you feeling stuck. The doors open at 6:30pm for praise and worship, teaching, prayer, and group accountability. There are people from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life. This is a judgement free zone. No one is perfect, and we all need help. If you can’t do it on your own and you want the support of other people engaged in the fight for a better life, then this is the perfect place for you. We are always looking for people interested in being prayer warriors and group leaders too.
The Ultimate Journey is a powerful 3 phase process that helps you become the person God created you to be. Whether you are a Christian or not, the pastor of a church, or have never been in a church, bondage is bondage. It may be difficult to see yourself as being in bondage, but consider what it looks like in someone’s life. We often think of pornography, drugs, alcohol, or even guilt and shame as bondage, but perfectionism, worry, stress, fear, and people pleasing are also forms of bondage. These are merely symptoms of the real problem, which is the core belief that “I am not good enough.” This belief is what drives people into bondages like the ones previously mentioned. It leads people to need to do something or be something to try and prove they are good enough. And, it leads people to “numb out” from the pain of not feeling good enough. Most people try to change themselves through forced behavior that provides temporary results at best. The Ultimate Journey, by contrast, focuses on transformation by the renewing of the mind. Sign-ups for The Ultimate Journey occur in December each year. Free Indeed is a monthly outreach that takes the good news of Jesus outside of the four walls of the church. One weekend each month a group goes out to share the love of Jesus through testimonies and random acts of kindness. Sometimes we set up with food and drinks next to a busy gas station to draw people in, others times we take pre-made packages to the homeless, and other times we go to crowded areas to pass out waters or perform cardboard testimonies. These outings really stretch people outside of their comfort zones and build confidence in them to begin sharing their faith in their every day lives. Acts 1:8 tells us that we will receive power to be witnesses to take the Gospel to the world… this is where we rely on that power!
